John Kampfner was a political correspondent and commentator for the BBC and Financial Times and is currently Political Editor of the New Statesman. He has exposed the origins of the link and subsequent bond between former Prime Minister Tony Blair, and ex President George W Bush. A young George W Bush spent a summer on the Perthshire (Scotland) family farm of the Gammell family. Young Willy Gammell became a childhood and lifelong friend of George W, oh…and young Willy Gammell was also one of Blair’s closest school friends at the elite Fettes College in Edinburgh.
Truth is indeed stranger than fiction…
Wikipedia:
Bill Gammell was born in Edinburgh. His father was an investment banker, invited at an early age to join Edinbugh’s Ivory & Sime (which was started in the late 1800s with the formation of the British Assets Trust.) Gammell attended Edinburgh’s exclusive Fettes College where he was friends and debating partners with future British Prime Minister Tony Blair. The two have remained close friends. After Fettes, Gammell attended the University of Stirling where he obtained a BA in Economics and Accountancy.
Gammell’s father invested in US oil company Bush-Overbey, owned by future US President George H. W. Bush. The two families became friends, with George W. Bush spending the summer at the Gammell’s farm in Scotland. George W. attended Bill Gammell’s wedding in Glasgow in 1983. The two have remained close friends. When George W. Bush assumed the Presidency, both he and Blair reportedly called their mutual friend Gammell to ask his opinion of the other.

Heya i?m for the first time here. I found this board and I to find It really useful & it helped me out a lot. I am hoping to give something back and help others like you helped me.

Hello there, simply turned into aware of your blog thru Google, and found that it is really informative. I?m gonna watch out for brussels. I will appreciate if you continue this in future. A lot of other folks will be benefited from your writing. Cheers!
Thanks for discussing your ideas. The first thing is that students have a solution between federal student loan and also a private student loan where it’s easier to go with student loan consolidating debts than in the federal education loan.
One important issue is that when you find yourself searching for a education loan you may find that you will want a co-signer. There are many cases where this is true because you might find that you do not use a past credit standing so the mortgage lender will require you have someone cosign the borrowed funds for you. Interesting post.
Many thanks for this article. I will also like to mention that it can always be hard while you are in school and simply starting out to initiate a long history of credit. There are many pupils who are merely trying to make it through and have a lengthy or favourable credit history can be a difficult thing to have.
I have learned a number of important things through your post. I will also like to say that there may be a situation in which you will apply for a loan and don’t need a co-signer such as a Federal government Student Support Loan. However, if you are getting a borrowing arrangement through a standard bank then you need to be able to have a co-signer ready to assist you. The lenders are going to base their decision on the few aspects but the most important will be your credit ratings. There are some creditors that will also look at your work history and make a decision based on that but in many instances it will depend on your credit score.
One other issue is that if you are in a scenario where you don’t have a co-signer then you may genuinely wish to try to exhaust all of your federal funding options. You’ll find many funds and other scholarships or grants that will give you funding to support with university expenses. Thanks alot : ) for the post.
